In Moscow, Vladimir Leonchenko scored a controversial last-minute penalty to give Torpedo a 2-1 victory over 10-man Rostselmash Rostov.

With time running out, the referee called a handball against one of the Rostov defenders in the penalty area, but television replays showed it seemed to be accidental.

Dmitry Vyazmikin put Torpedo ahead after 34 minutes with his 10th goal in the last six games before Alexander Shmarko levelled in the 62nd minute for Rostov, who had had defender Alexander Malygin sent off two minutes earlier.

The victory moved Torpedo, who have won five of their last six matches, to second place, a point behind Samara.
